Film Ferrania is making available for remixing some clips from an old Italian movie. You'll need to add sound and a little imagination but the results could earn you $250 to spend in Film Ferrania's online store. Two runners-up will get $50 to spend.
The company found these mysterious clips as it went through the old Ferrania buildings, savaging equipment for its new still and cinema film project:
This mysterious reel contains outtakes from an unknown Italian film that appears to be from the late '50s or early '60s. It was shot on Ferraniacolor cinema film, but we don't know much more about it beyond that -- in fact, if you know more about this movie -- please tell us.
Well, a quick peek at the anamorphic clips show some are from a Sinbad movie. Clip 8 is from Sinbad Against the Saracenes. The scene we grabbed a still from features Maciste, the strongest man in the world, and seems to be from a different production named Maciste.
You have until Jan. 12 to upload your masterpiece. When we tried the Vimeo download links on the blog page we got a permissions error but you can visit the Vimeo page for each clip instead. There are download options for either SD and HD versions of each clip.
Film Ferrania was formed by co-founders Nicola Baldini and Marco Pagni in Ferrania, Italy on July 23, 2013. The two hope, with help from the local government, to build a new film factory from the remains of the old Ferranni factory, founded in 1923. The revived factory would produce roll film for both stills and cinema.
