In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at a softbox tutorial, time-lapse photography, a scribble based white balance system and a teen's advice on posting photos on social media.
- Tony Corbell sets up 10 different looks using one large softbox -- and reflectors, a light meter, several models and a camera. (Thanks, Aaron!):
- Anne Possberg discusses Practical Considerations For Time-Lapse Photography. Thoroughly.
- Supplemental Material for User-Guided White Balance for Mixed Lighting Conditions describes a "scribble based system" to balance mixed lighting. You doodle, it balances the light.
- In A Teenager's View on Social Media discusses the various advantages and disadvantages of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Tumblr, Yik Yak, Medium, among others. Written by a 19-year-old, photo postings figure prominently in the discussion. Like why you get more likes with less friends on Instagram than Facebook.
