DNP's New DS80DX Prints Photobooks

The printer of choice for the photobook industry is the HP Indigo inkjet press but DNP hopes to crack that market with the DS80DX, its new duplex dye-sub that print can print 4x4-, 4x8-, and 6x8-inch photobooks. Bundled with DNP's Mini Photobook Windows software, it can also create a Super Panorama 4x16-inch photobooks, printed across two 4x8-inch spreads.

"Due to the quality limitations of toner based systems and the growing popularity of photobooks," DNP President Katsuyuki Oshima said, "the development of a duplex solution based on our award-winning dye-sublimation technology was the logical next step for DNP."
The DS80DX uses dual paper supplies, a one-side roll for prints from 4x8 to 8x12 and a sheet-fed tray for duplex printing.
The company said the software allows end-users "to simply select their desired photos and output size and the program will auto populate the pages with the ability to customize, crop, reorder pages and edit the layout."

The DS80DX provides a versatile range of simplex and duplex printing options for creating high quality printed photos, photobooks, calendars and greeting cards in store and onsite. At 16.4 inches tall by 12.7 inches wide by 19.7 inches deep, the printer saves valuable workspace by eliminating the need for a designated printer area. The DS80DX's printing and duplexing units, weighing in at 30 pounds each, can be separated for easy shipping and deployment. In addition, a powerful printer control engine, specially designed to optimize image quality, ensures each print is produced with rich full-color detail in stunning matte or glossy finishes

The software can also create a Super Panorama 4"x16" photobook, printed across two 4"x8" spreads. Once the software is installed on a compatible operating system, images can be quickly loaded into the program from a media card, USB drive or other storage device. The software allows end-users to simply select their desired photos and output size and the program will auto populate the pages with the ability to customize, crop, reorder pages and edit the layout.
The DS80DX is compatible with Windows XP, 7 and 8 operating systems.
