Epson Introduces Inexpensive Perfection V19 Scanner

The two most intriguing features of Epson's new Perfection 19 scanner are that it requires nothing more than USB port for power and it retails for just $70. It's also pretty fast, using LED illumination that requires no warm-up.
With its kickstand, you can prop it up to minimize its footprint. And the top pops off so you can scan bulkier objects (and presumably do selfies). Four front panel buttons labeled PDF, Send, Copy and Start can initiate much of the action, too (on OS X as well, Epson confirmed).
Capable of 4800 x 4800 optical resolution, the V19 scans at 16 bits per channel, delivering an 8-bit per channel image, typical of many flatbeds and sufficient for scanning everything from line art to color photo prints.
