In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Margo Cooper, a 200mm shoot out, tips for creating Photoshop actions and the Domke Chronicle bag.

  • There are 22 images by Margo Cooper in Fayemi Shakur's Documenting the Blues in the Mississippi Delta and they're just as moving as the music.
  • Roger Cicala's The Great 200mm Shoot Out is another in his "Just the Lenses" series the subjects only the glass (no camera body involved) to his Trioptics Imagemaster optical bench. With Aaron Closz, he tests several prime and zoom Canon and Nikon versions against a Sigma and Tamron 700-200mm zoom. The big boys win.
  • Julieanne Kost provides some Helpful Hints for Creating Actions in Photoshop. They're not what you might expect either, discussing Photoshop settings and user interface issues, among other things:

She also points you to some more in-depth video tutorials on the subjects.

More to come...
