DNP has announced it is now shipping its WPS-1 Wireless Printer Server, which supports direct printing from WiFi-enabled photo capture devices, mobile devices and personal computers to DNP's DS Series and RX dye-sub printers.

"We designed the WPS-1 with a broad range of markets in mind," said Katsuyuki Oshima, president of DNP Imagingcomm America Corp. "From the professional event photographer to the mobile event photo operator and small retailer, the WPS-1 will be an invaluable asset for increasing workflow productivity, flexibility and profitability."

The $180 set-top box runs custom DNP software that "eliminates typical PC and network router requirements while supporting multiple image input methods" using its built-in 802.11b/g/n WiFi access point.

It's available for pre-order from Adorama and B&H, among other retailers.

CONCORD, N.C. -- DNP Imagingcomm America Corp. has announced its new WPS-1 Wireless Print Server for DNP photo printers is now shipping. The WPS-1 supports direct printing from WiFi enabled photo capture devices, mobile devices and personal computers to DNP's DS Series and RX series of professional dye-sublimation photo printers. Ideal for professional on-demand printing services or a self-serving printing solution, the WPS-1 can be easily integrated with Photobooths, onsite event workflows or small retail photo printing solutions.

The WPS-1 is designed exclusively for DNP's award-winning DS40, DS80, RX1 and DS620A printers. The set-top box runs custom DNP software that eliminates typical PC and network router requirements while supporting multiple image input methods. Using its built-in 802.11b/g/n WiFi access point, the unit supports printing from multiple WiFi enabled dSLR cameras, iOS and Android smartphones/tablets and Android-based cameras, as well as printing from Windows or Mac computers. It also allows users to select and print groups of photos using tablets running iOS, Android or Windows. Mobile apps for the WPS-1 can be found at the online Android and iOS marketplaces.

Ideal for professional on-demand printing services or a self-service printing solution, the WPS-1 can connect to two identical DNP photo printer models for speed/redundancy or connect to two different models for an increased range of print size options. The device allows for multiple print sizes including 4x6 5x7 6x8 and 8x10, depending on the combination of printers and media. All prints are available with operator configurable glossy and matte finishes and can be produced with custom borders as well.

The WPS-1 is currently available at resellers across the United States and Canada and planned for release in Latin America in the near future.
