In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at 24-70 f2.8 lenses, Claire Yaffa, Leica S autofocus and a deadline extension for comments from the U.S. Copyright Office.
- In 24-70 f2.8 Zoom MTF and Variation, Roger Cicala compares the Canon 24-70mm f2.8 Mk II L, the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 VC and the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 AF-S lenses. He was impressed, noting "this group of zooms did as well as I would have hoped and particularly well at the wide end."
- At the Leica Camera Blog, Claire Yaffa's Thoughts of Photographers, Poets and Dreamers includes 14 images and some quotes to chew on.
- In Leica S Typ 006: Autofocus Errors, Lloyd Chambers describes "a horrific time with the autofocus, surely the worst performance I have ever experienced with any camera, with a very high error rate often with huge errors."
- The U.S. Copyright Office has extended the deadline to Oct. 1 for replies to public comments about the Notice of Inquiry on Copyright Protection for Certain Visual Works.
