In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at PhotoPlus Expo, f1.4 lens design, the Leica SL and using Google Photos in a time of grief.
- PhotoPlus Expo in New York City wraps up tomorrow but it isn't too soon for a few recaps. At 137 words, Derrick Story's Highlights from PhotoPlus Expo is the briefest recap. Mike Johnston's Party Like It's 1999 reflects on the changes in the industry in 342 words. Kevin Raber is just getting warmed up with Photo Plus Expo 2015 -- Day One, which includes a lot of photos.
- Lloyd Chambers finds The Irrational Aim of f1.4 Lenses full of self-defeating compromises. "I want lenses the size of the Zeiss Loxia 21mm f/2.8 which perform as good or better than Zeiss Otus," he pleads.
- Sean Reid shares Some Thoughts On The Leica SL after testing a pre-production model since August. Ming Thein had "a few days with a final pre production SL and 24-90mm," he writes in his Premiere and Review, which includes a link to his Flickr set of SL images.
- John Nack shares some ideas on Using Google Photos in a time of grief, which he has personally found "very meaningful."
