In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Photoshop CC 2015.1, Newburgh, Nathan Benn and the Koolertron pan and tilt head.

  • Terry White has posted videos of Five Features You're Gonna Love in Photoshop CC 2015.1, which was last night's update from Adobe. A new font menu, the revised export options, the customizable tool panel, access to Adobe Stock and creating a CC library in a Photoshop document all make the list.
  • In A New Day in Newburgh, David Gonzalez tells how international photojournalist David Burnett was elbowed by his wife's cousin, "Sure, you go off to France, Spain and Vienna. But what about Newburgh?" where he'd moved five years earlier with his wife. The 20 image presentation shows the surprising vitality he and some fellow photographers found when they took a closer look at the town.
  • The Leica Camera Blog highlights Nathan Benn's Kodachromes selected from 12,000 slides, mostly shot for National Geographic. The images are on display for a few more days at the Leica Gallery in Los Angeles and published in Benn's book Kodachrome Memory: American Pictures 1972-1990.
  • Derrick Story loves his $49 Koolertron Pan and Tilt Head. It's so versatile, he leaves it on the camera as a vertical grip.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
