Tokina Announces Fast, Wide-Angle Lens Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

31 December 2015

Tokina has announced a 14-20mm f2.0 wide-angle zoom in Canon and Nikon mounts designed for APS-C sensors. The equivalent crop factor for Nikon APS-C cameras is 21-30mm and 22-32mm for Canon cameras. That's a bit wider angle than the usual 18mm starting point of kit zoom lenses with an equivalent 27mm/29mm focal length.

With 13 elements in 11 groups, the 1.6 lb. zoom takes an 82mm filter. The compact body features a one-touch focus clutch mechanism to switch between manual and auto focus by sliding the focus ring.

The f.20 aperture, available at all focal length, is complemented by nine aperture blades. A plastic aspherical lens fights ghosting and flare. Two super low dispersion glass aspherical lenses correct "various aberrations," the company said.

The second lens group in this lens is adopted the plastic aspherical lens which imProved surface accuracy and is given antireflection coat. This lens is designed tough against ghost flare.

Arrange highly precise Glass molded Aspherical lens

Two pieces of super low dispersion glass molded aspherical lens are located in the back goup of the lens and various aberrations are corrected by these lenses.

Compact Body and Excellent Operability

This lens is designed as the fast aperture f2.0 in all focal range, but it is a compact body. This lens has a thread in the front frame, so it's possible to attach filters of 82mm size.
