Johnston Print Offer: 'The Red Chair' Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

24 February 2016

Mike Johnston of The Online Photographer is holding a special three-day print sale of The Red Chair, which he captured after a recent ice storm in upstate New York. The image was a hit when he first published it Feb. 17 to explain why he hadn't been online for 10 hours.

The Red Chair. 'The beauty we can find in familiar places if the conditions are right, and of the consolation we find in beauty'.

In his post announcing the sale, Johnston described the image:

The Red Chair, taken last week with a Fujifilm X-T1 and 23mm f1.4 lens, is 9 x 12-1/2 inches on 11 x 15-inch Canson Baryta Photographique paper, expertly printed on the new Epson P800 printer by Ctein in California. It's a quiet little picture and a quiet little print. To me it speaks of the beauty we can find in familiar places if the conditions are right, and of the consolation we find in beauty.

Prints are available through Saturday, 1:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, from The Red Chair Print Sale Web page for $120 unsigned and $170 signed plus $25 for shipping. California orders include sales tax. Payment may be made through PayPal only, Johnston notes.

In the post, Johnston also said what he plans to do with the proceeds:

My plan is that my share of the proceeds will go toward creating a lovely little photography display gallery here, so people who visit will have some cool stuff to see and discuss with me. I'll tell you more about that soon. This sale will kickstart that project, which I've been very enthusiastic about. It's something I really want to do. (Every picture in it will have a story behind it, probably.)
