In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Valeria Cammareri, a deal on the Sigma 18-300mm zoom, Siftr and BorrowLenses at WPPI.

  • Kate Wesson interview Valeria Cammareri about her iPhone photos of people. Born in Sicily, the Milanese pediatrician never felt comfortable with a camera until she bought an iPhone in 2012. Stunning stuff.
  • Sigma has announced an $80 instant rebate on its Sigma Global Vision 18-300mm f3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary lens. But wait. In addition to the rebate, Sigma will include, at no additional cost, its AM72-01 close-up lens, a $55 value.
  • New startup Siftr can find all the photos you've shared online at Instagram, Flickr, 500px or Facebook. Then it will sort and seamlessly share them on an attractive Web site it hosts for you. No uploading, no tagging as Sift uses its advanced photo intelligence to do the work for you. And you can get started for free.
  • BorrowLenses is having a Big Camera Giveaway at WPPI. Look for them at Booth 1540 to enter.

We've also updated our Calendar today and there's always more to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
