In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at spring, c't Digital Photography Magazine, the Black app and Affinity Photo for Windows.

  • With the weekend's storms over, we were happy to see a few Signs of Spring from Alan Taylor. The theme may be a recurring one but the images are fresh takes on it. Who would have thought a Sharpie is a sign of spring?
  • In The Demise of c't Digital Photography Magazine, Derrick Story reflects on his two year stint with the publication.
  • John Voorhees enjoys Handsome B&W Filters with Black, an iPhone app. "What I appreciate most about Black, is its simplicity and focus on my photos," he writes. There's a free mode but saving a photo with any manual adjustments requires a 99 cent in-app purchase.
  • Affinity has announced it is "only weeks away from our first free beta of Affinity Photo on Windows." You can register now to find out when the Affinity Photo on Windows beta will be available.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
