1 April 2016

In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at an Olympus trade up campaign as Canon adjusts Canadian prices, a Rocky Nook flash sale, automating the Zone System in Lightroom and a Chinese April Fool's Day suggestion.

  • Olympus is having a Trade Up Campaign through April 30, offering $100 off the EM1 and EM 5 Mark II and $150 off the PEN F when you trade in any camera. Meanwhile, Canon has raised the price on most of its lenses sold in Canada to adjust for the depreciation in the Canadian dollar.
  • Rocky Nook's April Fool's Flash Sale discounts its ebooks 50 percent and its paperbacks 40 percent today only when you use the coded 40FLASH and 40FLASH respectively.
  • Benjamin Warde's latest Lightroom Coffee Break "reveals a little-known trick for achieving the acclaimed Ansel Adams style" that even Gavin Seim's new Alchemist plug-ins can't touch:

Today is April Fools' Day in the West when you can publicly lie and not be punished. Why don't we do the opposite and make this day 'truth telling day'? Hopefully today we can speak the truth, express our true feelings, show our true colors, spread the truth without being restricted or punished, without getting blacklisted as inciting crime.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
