In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at image of Ali by Gordon Parks, Pluto close-ups, searching photos with Siri and Metapho 2.0.
- In Two Champions: Muhammad Ali and Gordon Parks, David Gonzalez presents 19 images from the American Champion exhibit at the Gordon Parks Foundation. The exhibit features about two dozen black-and-white images, several never seen before, that Parks took of Ali between 1966 and 1970 on assignment for Life magazine.
- NASA has released a low altitude fly-over of Pluto taken by the New Horizons spacecraft on July 15, 2015. The video clip below is silent but captioned. Pause it to enjoy the detail of 260 feet per pixel.
- Luke Filipowicz explains How to Search Photos With Siri. You can search by time, location or both. "Hey, Siri, show me photos from October in San Francisco," you might try in even years.
- John Voorhees reviews Metapho 2.0, a $2.99 iOS utility to access, edit and remove photo metadata. The new version, a free update, adds batch editing, date editing, a photo library filter and file name display.
