The agenda for the Sept. 23-24 symposium includes:

  • Photographic Event Day 1: Frameworks (3 to 5 p.m.) will explore photography and time from a variety of perspectives in art and science, offering a set of historical and theoretical frameworks for the sessions that follow. Moderated by SFMOMA's Leanne and George Roberts Curator of Education and Public Practice, Dominic Willsdon, participants include SFMOMA Curator of Photography Corey Keller and professors Jimena Canales (University of Illinois) and George Baker. $15 general/$10 member.
  • Photographic Event Day 1: Still Moving (6 to 7:30 p.m.) features artists John Gerrard and Owen Kydd discussign their respective art practices in relation to "durational photography," an idea that challenges the distinction between still and moving images. The discussion will be moderated by SFMOMA Curator of Media Arts Rudolf Frieling.
  • The Photographic Event Day 2 (Noon to 7 p.m.) continues to explore photography's multifaceted relationship to time, history and memory. Saturday attendees will witness the U.S. debut of Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige's performance Latent Images: Diary of a Photographer, followed by panel discussions and presentations with Hadjithomas, Jananne Al-Ani, Phil Chang, Trevor Paglen and Eyal Weizman. $30 general/$20 member.

Advance discounted member-only tickets are now on sale at SFMOMA. General tickets go on sale June 27.
