It's been almost six years since Studio Neat introduced the first Glif, a simple but secure iPhone tripod mount. And now Dan Provost and Tom Gerhardt have completely redesigned the Glif and launched a Kickstarter project to fund production.
So how do you improve on the $30 original Glif? Customer feedback suggested three ways:
- A Quick Release Lever snugs the grip the Glif has on your phone when you mount it and releases the tension the Glif has on your phone so you can easily lift it out.
- Both Portrait and Landscape Mounts are available using a side-mounted tripod tread.
- Added Extensibility provides mounting threads for accessories like lights (from the top) and a microphone (from the side) or a handle (on the bottom).
As the video above shows, two accessories can be ordered with the new Glif. A cherry handle and a wrist strap that attaches to the handle.
There are 32 days to go on the project and already over $31,000 of the $50,000 goal has been raised. Rewards include a Glif ($25), the whole set ($50) or two sets ($100). If the goal is reached, estimated delivery is expected to be in January 2017.
