In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at 43 missing students, the Solar Impulse 2, the Copyright Alliance's open letter to 2016 political candidates, making fine adjustments in Lightroom's Develop module and a caption contest.
- David Gonzalez chronicles the effort of photographer Emmanuel Guillén Lozano in Searching for 43 Missing Students Deep Inside the 'Real Mexico'. "It does not matter to how long it will take. The parents want justice," he says.
- In Flying Around the World in a Solar Powered Plane, Alan Taylor presents 28 photos celebrating the 505-day 26,000 mile trip at an average speed of about 45 mph by pilots Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg of the Solar Impulse 2 aircraft.
- Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid wants you to Sign the Copyright Alliance's Open Letter to 2016 Political Candidates. "We urge candidates to universally resist attempts to erode the right of creators to determine when and how they share their works in the global marketplace," he writes. Here's the petition.
- Julieanne Kost's Making Finer Adjustments in Lightroom's Develop Module is an oldie but a goodie. We like making the panel wider for finer control of the sliders but the scrubber is clever, too.
- Like caption contests? The New York Times is running the Times Insider Photo Challenge: Caption This! right now.
