In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Ted Williams, Macro lenses performance, McNally at Rio and a film capture of three guys.
- John Leland is Hearing Music in Photos of Jazz Giants in 17 evocative black-and-white images by Ted Williams.
- Roger Cicala, Aaron Closz, and Diego Martinez present More PhotoGeekery: Finite Conjugate MTF Bench Tests for Macro Lenses. "The macro lenses we tested were all at least as good at macro distances, and in some cases better than they were at infinity focus." And that's just one of the things they learned.
- In One and Done, Ups and Downs of Covering Track and Field, Joe McNally continues his tales from Rio with a confession. His two action shots may have missed their mark but he recovered with post-race portraits that tell the story.
- Derrick Story's Brothers is a short and sweet tale of a film capture the other night in a world of selfies.
