Leica will open the Boston Leica Store and Gallery in the recently renovated Park Plaza Hotel on Sept. 16, the company said. In addition to showcasing the full Leica line-up, the store will launch its gallery with Looking Back, an exhibition of photographs by Bostonian Magnum photographer Constantine Manos.

"Boston is a historic city and travel destination with deep roots in culture, education and photography -- a place that renowned photographers like Constantine call home -- so we are thrilled to finally open our doors to this city and creative community and provide local Boston photographers, creatives, students and tourists with the tools they need to capture amazing moments," said Roland Wolff, vice president of marketing and corporate retail for Leica Camera.

"Given Constantine's connection to Boston we are honored to have him join us for the opening event and unveil his exhibit at the Leica Gallery, sharing never-before-seen photos from a lifetime of beautiful photography with the city he has called home for many years."

A Greek-American photographer, Constantine "Costa" Manos became the official photographer of the Boston Symphony Orchestra at its summer music festival, Tanglewood when he was only 19. After living in Greece for two years he moved to Boston in 1964, completing assignments for Time-Life and contributing to Magnum Photos. In 1974, Manos was hired to create the photographs for "Where's Boston?" a large multimedia exhibition in honor of the city of Boston's 200th anniversary. The photos were later featured in the book Bostonians: Photographs from Where's Boston?

The Leica Store and Gallery is located at 74 Arlington Street, Boston, MA 02116, within the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.leicastoreboston.com and http://leicagalleryboston.com.

Boston's Leica Gallery will curate exhibits of work by world-famous photographers and host special engagements with featured artists. The debut exhibit includes several unpublished photographs from the start of Manos' career and will remain open to the public until Nov. 1.
