In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at EverydayAfrica, sports photography, Adobe's masterpiece recreations and a succulent.
- In Bringing @EverydayAfrica to the Printed Page, Kwesi Foli writes about the Instagram feed that shows the continent's better side. The feed's founders Austin Merrill and Peter DiCampo hope to publish Everyday Africa: 30 Photographers Re-Picturing a Continent, a Kickstarter campaign that begins today.
- Jed Jacobsohn explains How to Get More Out of Your Sports Photography in five basic rules: "1) Composition, 2) Light, 3) Background, 4) Subject/Content, 5) Practice."
- In Re-Creating 400-Year-Old Light With Photoshop, Terri Stone recounts digital artist Jean-Charles Debroize's re-creation of Caravaggio's 1602 painting Saint Matthew and the Angel. It's one of four recreations of lost artwork Adobe has pursued.
- Planet of the Succulents is Harold Davis having fun with 1) a strange succulent, 2) a 5mm f1.4 Zeiss Otus and 3) a L-channel inversion. You may assume signs of life were found there.
More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
