In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Snapchat filters, burst mode in the iPhone, the Axler mirrorless camera gimbal and Sharon Lockhart.
- Vox explains How Snapchat's Filters Work using Looksery's technology, which the company recently bought:
- Danny Zappa shows How To Use iPhone Burst Mode For Incredible Action Photos. You don't have to pick just one image, either. You can assemble a few in a GIF, for example.
- Moose Peterson solved his shaky hand-held video problem with the $579 Axler Mirrorless Camera Gimbal. Still hand-held but no shaky video.
- Pier 24 Photography has announced photographer Sharon Lockhart will deliver a free lecture next Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the California College of the Arts. "She explores the intersections of film and photography -- staging still images as one would a film and composing films in the manner of photographs."
