In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at entries for the National Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Contest, a model who was not a muse, a 50mm lens comparison and Antarctica.
- Alan Taylor presents 25 entries in the 2016 National Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Contest whose deadline is Nov. 4.
- In The Opposite of a Muse, Anna Heyward tells the story of Isabelle Mège, a medical secretary in Paris who persuaded many famous photographers to take her picture over the course of two decades. From 300 signed prints, she has curated a collection of her 135 favorites.
- In The Ultimate 50mm Lens Comparison,Chase Reynolds chronicles his personal lens purchasing journey. "My purpose for doing these shoots was to find a 50mm prime lens, well suited for travel photography," he writes. He tested 13 primes and found two with excellent image quality and an affordable price.
- Julieanne Kost has returned from her Adobe sabbatical with some Images from Antarctica and a tip for using The Clone Stamp and Healing Brush in Photoshop CC .
