In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Annabelle Marcovici, continuous mode vs. the decisive moment, Instagram and the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal.
- In Opposing a Pipeline Near Sacred Sioux Sites, Evelyn Nieves presents some background on Oceti Sakowin Camp, which "now includes a K-12 school, a medical tent, a solar charging station, a free clothes store, a meeting 'hall' and a low-watt radio station" with 19 black-and-white images by freelance photographer Annabelle Marcovici, who has watched the camp evolve.
- Sean O'Kane thinks Sony's new cameras show just how drastically photography is changing. When continuous mode can hit 24 frames per second (which is a movie rate), it "is changing the basic exercise of photography, which is to capture a subject in a particular moment," he fears.
- On the sixth anniversary of Instagram, Om Malik reflects on Instagram, Snapchat and How My Love for Photos Has Changed with Kevin Abosch, the creator of Lenka app.
- Julieanne Kost explains the new Adobe Stock Contributor Portal for making money with your images. She also includes links to a few tutorials and tips.
