Pretty quiet day as far as photo news goes. We've been working on a review but it isn't out of the oven yet. We're just about to wrap things up.

Houses. As the sun sets.

The other day we looked out the window as we were wrapping things up and saw these houses climbing up the side of Mount Davidson lit by the setting sun. We liked what we saw so we snapped the photo.

There is nothing special about it. Nothing to draw your attention to. Nothing to explain. No teaching moment.

But for us at least there's something comforting about it.

Maybe it's what heaven looks like. Not at all unfamiliar. Just some houses, nicely painted, color coordinated, warmed by the sun.

And if that's not too far off the mark, then we can imagine that in one of them today there's a big party to welcome journalist Gwen Ifill, who we will sorely miss.

"We can't expect the world to get better by itself," she once said. So tomorrow we'll roll up our sleeves again and see what we can do about that.
