Friday Slide Show: Oh, Christmas Tree Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

23 December 2016

If it were up to us, we'd have a Christmas tree in the front room all year. We're not bereft of furniture but we just love the little colored lights taking center stage each night. And the smell of the Noble Fir doesn't hurt either.

Eve. A mix of artificial lighting.

It's a chore to put one up every year, of course. And we can see how resorting to an iTree or whatever they're called is tempting, especially as our joints start to creak and our muscles remind us for days when we lift more than an espresso cup.

Morn. Natural light shots.

We know a few people who simply don't bother any more and we can't blame them.

But that's always been one of the major motivations for our Friday Slide Shows. We aren't pretending to be anything but enthralled by the wonders around us and happy to share them with those who wouldn't otherwise be able to enjoy them.

We imagine every Friday at the Convalescent Home the Computer Room is packed with perfectly charming and accomplished people who look forward to our show every Friday afternoon Pacific time or happy hour in the east.

It isn't true, of course, but that fantasy is what keeps this show going.

So we thought we'd share a few close-ups of the holiday decorations we've collected over the years. They're tough to shoot but we managed to get a few shots to share.

We shot them in two sessions, one in the morning and one at night. They're quite different, even if they're the same subject, so we broke them into two slide shows.

We put the night shots up first, thinking of Christmas Eve. And the day shots second, thinking of Christmas morning.

Nothing special, nothing spectacular.

But they're ours and we wanted to welcome you into our home this year. We hope, after you see these, you'll feel as if you were here.

Happy holidays!
