In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Phillip Caruso, 2016's most-rented gear, three favorite lenses and making titles in Apple Photos.
- A Lifetime of Memorable Images celebrates Phillip Caruso's SOC Still Photographer Lifetime Achievement Award. Knowing your place helped. "Everyone in the room is there to work on a set, of stage, of a movie that will ultimately present the best possible product," he says. "They are not there to change what they are doing to give you a better position or shot-find it."
- Lenrentals's The Best and Most Rented Photography Gear of 2016 lists the top 20 rentals but also includes staff picks.
- For a completely different gear perspective, consider Kirk Tucks Modest and Short List of the Three Most Useful Interchangeable Lenses I Used in 2016. They include an 18-105mm f4, a 24-70mm f4 and a 70-200mm f4. Not fast lenses, you may have noticed. He explains why.
- Derrick Story has a Cool Tip for Custom Title Screens in Photos Slideshows. "That's right -- the greeting card tool in Photos for macOS can also be used for creating professional title screens for your slide shows," he writes.
