In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at London's Comic Con, animals in the news, the "innovative" Nikon D5600 and some autochromes.

  • Simon King went Inside London's Comic Con with his Leica M to capture a few portraits. "The beautiful, mostly hand-made, costumes, makeup and props were secondary to the personalities and attitudes of the guests and organizers at the show," he writes.
  • Even more amusing, perhaps, is Alan Taylors collection of 32 photos of Animals in the News. Educational, too, we hasten to add (see the X-ray of the Sumatran orangutan, for example).
  • Mike Johnston reveals the "innovative, breakthrough" Nikon D5600 is Taking CES by Storm, which is even more entertaining than the slide shows.
  • Finally, Rian Dundon presents some (there are 72,000) of the autochromes commissioned by Albert Kahn from 1909 to 1931, which always was intended to be an educational peek at how other people live.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
