In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Cinthya Santos-Briones, the Sigma 135mm Art lens, diptychs, bokeh aji, Lightroom's Visualize Spots tool and Moonrise prints.
- In Far From Mexico, These Abuelas Keep It Close to Their Hearts, David Gonzalez highlights the work of Cinthya Santos-Briones, one of the New York Portfolio Review attendes the Times is featuring this week on its Lens blog. "I wanted to show that in the migratory process there is a lot of pain, but there is also happiness," Santos-Briones said.
- In Lensrentals.com Reviews the New Sigma 135mm f1.8 Art Series Lens, Zach Sutton confesses "The Sigma 135mm f1.8 Art Series takes everything I always loved about the Canon 135mm f2L and surpasses it in every way."
- Julienne Kost explains how she more efficiently lays out portrait-oriented images in Creating Diptychs in Lightroom CC.
- In 20 Years Ago Next Month: What Is 'Bokeh'?, John Kennerdell reprises his article for Mike Johnston's Photo Techniques May/June 1997 issue. - In another Lightroom Coffee Break, Benjamin Warde spends a minute Removing Dust From Photos With the Visualize Spots Tool:
- Hmmm. Iconic Ansel Adams Print Sells for $42,500 at Auction fails to mention the print's value depends a lot on when it was made. A 1948 print of the same image sold for $360,000 at a 2009 Swann auction while a younger print sold for $48,000. So that $42,000 maybe isn't so "staggering."
More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
