In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at rare photos, a red chair, Dronescapes and not a dress -- all treats for the eye.
- Rare Photos That Captured Incredible Moments From History collects an unusual set of images (you might think of them as outtakes) from familiar events. Nixon's last meal at the White House, for example, is particularly affecting (notice the Seal of the Presidenct on his plate is slightly off center to the left).
- Mike Johnston's Magenta Plant (Red Chair IV) continues his amusing series (with links to the previous three). Two things concern us: the chair is never facing us and whether the vibrant red plastic will survive another upstate New York summer.
- Save 41 percent on Dronescapes: The New Aerial Photography from Dronestagram. Besides the images collected from Dronestagram, the book includes extended commentary on the images and a technical guide on using a drone.
- Perception is everything in It Was Never a Dress.
More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
