In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Nick Nichols, Adam Elmakias, David Campany and a new bag collection.

  • How Do You Photograph Lions? Be as Boring as Possible. Wildlife photographer Nick Nichols spoke with James Estrin about his life with gorillas, elephants and lions. Aperture has just published Wild Life, a "visual biography" of Nichols by Melissa Harris. He doesn't mention it but apparently big cats can't resist Obsession for Men.
  • Adam Elmakias explains how to deal with "photographer's wrist" after suffering a severe case himself. "If there is one thing you take from this blog I want to to be that it is never a good idea to have heavy weight on your shoulders while they are up in shoot mode," he advises. Well illustrated.
  • In Tropes in Mind, Francis Hodgson reprises his review of David Campany's exhibition A Handful of Dust at the Whitechapel Gallery in London. He describes Campany's images as "both a brilliantly exciting and unexpected collection of pictures which could only possibly be connected by that one individual through his own private resources; and at the same time a pleasing ballade through some of the best-known and most-discussed theoretical positions in twentieth-century photography." And there's a lot of talk about goalkeeping, too.
  • ONA has announced a camera and travel bag collaboration with Saltfish Surf Co. that combines the two brands' shared interest in design, craft and travel. Artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico, where Saltfish sources their signature fabric, designed patterns to fit ONA's signature Bowery bag to make the $219 ONA x Saltfish Surf Co. limited collection.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
