In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Harf Zimmermann, the beta Photos for macOS, street photography drama, Lightroom mobile and Bowens.
- In Exposing Life Behind the Berlin Wall, Jordan Teicher explores Harf Zimmermann's 1980s black-and-white images of Hufelandstrasse, inspired by Bruce Davidson's East 100th Street. "You can read a lot from those photographs," Zimmermann says. "They're not as stiff as they seem."
- In Curves Coming to Photos 3 for macOS, Derrick Story plays with the public beta, finding a rudimentary Curves tool.
- Robin Wong suggests Drama in Street Photography is what makes a few stand out. "To put it bluntly," he writes, "if something makes you go 'WTF!', there's a good chance it is worth shooting." Of course by then it's usually too late....
- In See What's New in Lightroom for Mobile July 2017, Terry White (who celebrates 21 years with Adobe this week) provides a quick readable overview as well as this 14-minute video:
- Where Is the Flash Industry Headed?, Kirk Tuck asks after Bowens has shut down. And he's not short of ideas. We treasure our monoblocs for their performance but it's a different world, Tuck points out.
