In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at the LACP Portfolio Review, the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 Art lens, 11 free photo apps, the Eighth World Bonsai Convention and a SmugMug deal.
- Jonathan Blaustein has published the first part of The Best Work I Saw at the LACP Portfolio Review. That would be the Los Angeles Center of Photography. And he illustrates the piece profusely.
- Zach Sutton reviews the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG OS HSM Art Series Lens. He liked the focal range but preferred both Canon and Nikon versions.
- Paul Adshead lists 11 Free Apps I Couldn't Live Without as a Photographer. Highlights include a light meter app, model releases app, lighting setup app and a WiFi transfer app.
- Photographs From the Eighth World Bonsai Convention is worth a visit just for the compositions. The show lighting was hardly flattering. And if you're feeling small, well, bonsai!
- SmugMug is offering new users (like all those Photobucket users suddenly required to pay $400 a year to hotlink) a 15 percent discount on your first year when you use the code photobucket15.
