In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Josh Anderson, Lightroom, Luminar's asset manager, a Lightroom survey and the Canon 200mm f1.8.

  • Australian photographer Josh Anderson works with water, light and a Leica M5 loaded with 35mm film to capture the majesty of the ocean in Analogue Aquatic. "When the conditions are nice I can be just as happy creating photos of waves as I am riding them, however sometimes I'm torn on what to do," he admits.
  • "Be careful what you wish for," Thom Hogan advises in Deep in the Digital Doo Doo on the Lightroom. "Software development is difficult, expensive and the target is constantly moving. You need to expect to pay for that," he points out. Especially if your in the minority of camera-toting (rather than phone-toting) photographers, he adds.
  • Derrick Story reports on the Digital Asset Manager Coming to Luminar, occupying a little less "complicated approach" that Capture One for those who won't do business with Adobe.
  • Scott Kelby is helping out with A 'Lightroom Classic' Survey that includes a helpful tip about backing up your presets. Just five (thoughtful) questions to answer. And Kelby will pass the results along to Adobe.
  • Zach Sutton describes Using the Canon 200mm f1.8 L USM. He also had the the Canon 200mm 2L handy. For some reason ("plenty of contributing factors"), he preferred the f1.8.

We're running the public service notice below to remind Americans they can sign up for the American Health Care from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15 to be insured in 2018.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
