In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Delhi, Nina Berman, changing requirements, amateur volcano hunting, Neal Preston and Adorama's gift guides.

  • Delhi's Toxic Sky is not much to look at but Alan Taylor's 24 photos will make you gag. The "thick smog caused by a temperature inversion that traps smoke from burning crops, dust and emissions from factories and vehicles -- intensifying some of the worst air pollution in the world," he writes.
  • In A Photographer and Her Subject Share a Journey Over the Decades, Elizabeth Herman show 14 images from An Autobiography of Miss Wish by the photographer Nina Berman who spend over 25 years photographing Kimberly Stevens, whom she met as a child. Stevens did not have an easy life but she collected things. And they're in this book.
  • In People Keep Asking Me Where the Sony Cameras Got Off To, Kirk Tuck explains how his business has changed in the last year and his cameras, too. "You can do decent work with just about anything," he notes.
  • Rian Dundon presents British ophthalmologic surgeon Tempest Anderson's photos of Amateur Volcano Hunting. They were exposed on quarter plate negatives and projected with a magic lantern.
  • Mark Murrmann found some photos of Led Zeppelin, Stevie Nicks, and Alice Cooper that will make you believe in rock and roll again. They were shot by Neal Preston who has collected them in his book Exhilarated and Exhausted. "I want the reader at the end of this book to feel like they've just spent a year on the road with Zeppelin with one day off, then six months with Guns 'n' Roses, with one day off and then five years with Bruce Springsteen," Preston said.
  • Adorama has released its Holiday Gift Guides in several categories including Cameras, Lenses, Tripods, Studio & Lighting, Drones & Action Cameras, Pro Video and Memory & Storage.

We're running the public service notice below to remind Americans they can sign up for health coverage under the American Health Care Act from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15 to be insured in 2018.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
