In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. - We've been smitten by Uebersicht, which turns your Mac desktop into a useful display (calendar, time, system status, to-do list, etc.). Simple-to-install widgets provide the power and SDCardLocation is one such. It indicates on an iMac screen where the SD card slot is so you don't inadvertent try to insert the card in the DVD slot. Simple but brilliant.
- Rocky Nook is having an Earth Day Sale with 50 percent off all its ebooks when you apply code EARTH2018 at checkout. The code will expire at 11:59 p.m. PST on April 29.
- In DxO Labs in Receivership, Bankruptcy Case Opened: Report, Michael Zhang reports, "The company is mum on what exactly is going on behind the scenes but says its customers shouldn't be affected by the financial and legal situation."
