In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Justin Peters, recommended photo books, photographing drag queens and controlling contrast in landscapes.
- Lovely Photo Manipulations Utilizing Stock Photography features the fanciful compositions of German graphic designer Justin Peters.
- The Observers has embarked on a series of Photo Boooks Recommended By Visionaries. Five photographers and one curator kick off the feature with a list of many more to follow.
- In Why Drag?, British photographer Magnus Hastings tells Charles Purdy, "I see drag queens as incredible creatures; I don't see men or women, really -- I just see these incredible, gorgeous creatures." Why Drag? is the title of his 224-page photo book on the subject.
- In How to Control Contrast So You Always Get Amazing Landscape Photographs, Jason Row admits, "Contrast is a tricky thing to get right in a landscape shot." But he provides a few examples to help demystify what you can do about it.
