In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Ekaterina Sevrouk, Ming Thein, vintage mobile homes, a Miops photo gallery, Border Grill, the Panasonic TS7 vs. the Olympus TG-5 and storing your old photos.
- Last Paradise showcases selected images and an interview with Ekaterina Sevrouk about her new series of studio shots of taxidermy exhibits. "The taxidermic exhibits are metaphors for the destruction of nature, which we are trying to ignore so that we can live in our wonderful European paradise," she says.
- Ming Thein admits Stolen Moments is a bit voyeuristic. "I didn't set out to shoot these; they just happened across the course of a week and about seven thousand frames," he recalls.
- In Ready to Roll: In Praise of Vintage Mobile Homes, Getty Images Foto takes a look back at early trailer park photos. We particularly like the man inflating a raft at Incline Park, Nev. in 1956. As an older brother, we spent two weeks each summer inflating rafts at Tahoe.
- Miops has published a Sample Photos of photos taken with its Camera Trigger. Categories include Backstages, Fireworks,Light Painting, Lightning Strike, Long Exposure, Popping Balloons, Rocket Launch, Star Trail, Water Drop and Water Splash.
- In Food Trucks! LA! Border Grill, Joe McNally used "six or seven SB-5000 Speedlights, some inside the truck, others outside, either on the sidewalk or literally attached to the exterior of the vehicle" to photograph the Border Grill food truck.
- Derrick Story weighs the pros and cons of two Tough Guys: Panasonic TS7 vs. Olympus TG-5 before picking the one that shoots Raw.
- Glenn Guy explains How to Safely Store Your Negatives, Slides and Old Photos. If you don't have any now, you'll probably inherit some.
