In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Venezuela, autism, the Nikon ES-2 adapter, Meyer Optik Gorlitz, a $98 Olympus fisheye lens, 10 'secrets' to success and a Rocky Nook discount.

  • In Fleeing Venezuela's Crushing Economic Crisis, Alan Taylor presents 32 photos of Venezuelans under siege as they leave the country "seeking better lives in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and beyond."
  • In Visualizing Life With Autism, Sara Aridi talks to photographer Erin Lefevre about "photographing a state of mind." Lefevre came up with a clever approach.
  • In Nikon ES-2 Film Digitizing Adapter, David Flores provides a lot of practical advice ab out digitizing slides with the Nikon D850 and the Nikon ES-2 Digitizing Adapter (which reminds us a lot of the adapter for the Nikon 990):
  • Michael Zang explains How Meyer Optik Görlitz Won at Kickstarter but Failed at Life. The German company net SE behind the brand delisted its shares and filed for bankruptcy at the end of June.
  • Derrick Story plays with The $98 'Go To' Olympus Fisheye Lens, which happens to be a body cap lens so it's as compact as it gets. The 9mm f8 lens may be a fisheye (18mm equivalent) but it looks like a wide angle, the optics safely recessed so it does function as a cap.
  • Photographer's representative Andrea Stern shares her Top 10 Secrets for success in the pro photography business. The most important advice, she says, is to "showcase the work you want to be doing, not just the work you have done in the past."
  • Rocky Nook's Back to School Sale saves you 45 percent on any order when you use the code BTS451 through Sunday at midnight.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
