Leica Announces 35mm Prime For SL System Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

28 February 2019

Leica has announced its APO-Summicron-SL 35mm f2 ASPH for the SL system. The new prime takes advantage of "innovative production methods and new technologies," the company said.

HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights of the new prime include:

  • Image Quality: Together with an optimization of the optical and mechanical design, the application of high-quality coatings to each lens surface reduces unavoidable reflections to a minimum. This 35mm promises high-level image output, corner to corner, especially at its maximum aperture of f2.
  • Durable: Sealed against dust and moisture, paired with a hydrophobic Aquadura coating of the exterior lens surfaces, the lens can be used in almost any weather conditions.
  • Fast Auto Focus: The autofocus drive of all Summicron-SL lenses uses powerful and robust stepping motors with a Dual Syncro Drive that travels the entire focus range in just 250 milliseconds.
  • Compatibility: The lens uses the L-Mount standard developed by Leica, making it fully compatible with other L-Mount cameras from the Leica as well as cameras manufactured by partners of the L-Mount Alliance.

PRICE, AVAILABILITY

The APO-Summicron-SL 35mm f2 ASPH. will be on sale beginning mid-April for $4,595 at Leica stores, boutiques and dealers.
