In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at International Women's Day at National Geographic and Adobe with contests Female in Focus and the IWD 2019 Worldwide Photo Competition.

  • In How Women Photographers Access Worlds Hidden From Men, National Geographic photographers to reflect on how gender influences their work.
  • In Celebrate International Women's Day With These 16 Artists, Lex van den Berghe finds several women who share one thing in common: "their dedication to supporting women and sharing their stories through art."
  • Female in Focus is a new award designed to highlight the exceptional quality of work by female photographers around the world. Entries are being accepted now for a group show at United Photo Industries gallery in New York City later this year.
  • The IWD 2019 Worldwide Photo Competition launched on the EyeEm platform to celebrate women for the entire month of March. The worldwide competition is open to photographers of any gender. You can download the EyeEm app for free on iOS or Android to participate.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
