In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at fans of the 2019 Women's World Cup, Charlotte Hansel, Birgit Jurgenssen, Arielle Bobb-Willis and Brittney Cathey-Adams, the Panasonic Lumix G95, five monitors, the FlexTilt Head 3D, the NASA Image and Video Library and phrases designed to trap freelancers.
- Alan Taylor presents 20 photos of the Fans of the 2019 Women's World Cup.
- In Charlotte Hansel's Compelling Photographs Have a Distinctly Berlin Aesthetic, Stephanie Wade writes the German photographer's images "are awash with depth, perspective and potential."
- In Birgit JÜrgenssen Ich Bin, Sarah Roberts takes a look at the upcoming exhibition of "Jürgenssen's sharp and humorous work around gender roles, identity and freedom of choice."
- In Using the Female Gaze to Look Inside the Self, Miss Rosen reviews a recent exhibition of curious images by Arielle Bobb-Willis and Brittney Cathey-Adams, "two women who make sculptural, performative images that liberates representations of gender, race and body size from the strictures of the white male gaze."
- Derrick Story goes On Safari With the Panasonic Lumix G95 Camera. And he doesn't have to leave home to do it, visiting Safari West (the Sonoma Serengeti) on a very hot day.
- Greg Scoblete begins a preview of PhotoPlus Expo 2019 (relax, it's in October) with a look at five monitors from Benq, Eizo, Tvlogic and Viewsonic.
- Edelkrone Ortak's 3D printable products include the FlexTilt Head 3D. But $29 in parts, download the 3D model for Ultimaker, Zak and other 3D printers then assemble to build the equivalent of Edelkrone's $150 tripod head.
- The NASA Image and Video Library provides access to "a library of 140,000 high definition files filled with photos, videos and sound clips, all free and available for download."
- In Watch Out for These Phrases Designed to Trap Freelancers, Gail Anderson, Pum Lefebure and Mac Premo "call out the jargon, manipulation, bad intentions, good intentions but bad behavior, and downright BS that should make creatives run the other way."
