In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Sea of Tranquility, photos of the week, the Black Pumas, Urszula Tarasiewicz and Andrew Molitor.
- In Transmission: From the Sea of Tranquility to Planet Earth, Greg Whitmore tells the story in photos from the era. A mere 50 years ago, the world was glued to its TVs to watch history being made, one way or the other. The outcome, after all, wasn't assured.
- Meanwhile, Alan Taylor presents 35 Photos of the Week: Cool Pup, Orion Launch, Pitch Invader.
- Jacob Blickenstaff is On the Road With the Black Pumas as the Austin band performs in Brooklyn for the first time. No. 16 gets our vote for the coolest photo ever.
- Polish photographer Urszula Tarasiewicz is the first winner of OpenWalls, with a photograph taken from her series Garden Street. "I am interested in what stays behind when personal belongings and people are gone," Tarasiewicz says.
- And just to end where we began, Andrew Molitor considers The Epistemology of Global Knowledge in relation to the moon landing. And photography, of course.
More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
