In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Nature Conservancy contest winners, Eric Tabuchi, Photolucida, Serge Ramelli's favorite trick and iOS 13.
- The Guardian has published the winners of Nature Conservancy's Global Photo Contest. You can probably guess our favorite, although the polar bear came very close.
- In An Encyclopaedic Archive of France's Diverse Territories and Dilapidated Buildings, Stephanie Wade profiles French photographer Eric Tabuchi. The project plans include a total of 25,000 images taken over 10 years or 50 images captured in 500 different natural, geographical and cultural regions. And they are not all old structures.
- Jonathan Blaustein has published the sixth part of The Best Work I Saw at Photolucida. This installment features the work of Alexis Pike, Hillary Clements Atiyeh, Joe Wallace, Rich Frishman, Richard Andrew Sharum, Lisa Guerrero and Rebecca Hackemann. All worth a peek.
- Serge Ramelli reveals The One Trick That Got Me the Most Jobs on Interior Design Photography. He relights his interiors with a brush set to minus Clarity and an Exposure boost. But you have to see it:
- Apple has released iOS 13 for iPhones 6S and but later as Gorden Kelly points out in Warnings Issued for Millions of iOS 13 iPhone Upgraders, early reviews recommend you wait until 13.1 is released Sept. 24. Chris Welch reports in Here's Why So Many Apps Are Asking to Use Bluetooth on iOS 13 that "Bluetooth has enabled companies to sneakily track your location over Bluetooth by using beacons in stores, shopping malls and even on popular city streets." You can nip that in the bud with iOS 13 -- or by turning off Bluetooth.
This morning, we had a nearly two-hour power failure (they like to call 'em "outages" but they're still failures) so our curation of intriguing items was delayed a bit. Please support our efforts so we can buy a solar panel...
