In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Gab Bois, Ming Thein, William Wegman and Derrick Story.
- Andrew Lasane presents a few amusing Surreal Life Hacks photographed by Gab Bois. Like ironing a ruffled potato chip, Velcroed tongues, a coffee cup made of sugar cubes and more.
- Ming Thein's Growing Up collects a few black-and-whites of his daughter's first four years. "To think there are entire species whose lifespans are much shorter than the past four years; and intelligent ones who are fully mature and 'adult' after just one or two years," he marvels.
- Aaron Hicklin interviews William Wegman at Wegman's lakeside retreat. "There is no TV and no one seems to know the WiFi code," he writes. The photographer who has been photographing his dogs since the 1970s in elaborate costumes and crazy poses had three major shows this year.
- Derrick Story details The 2020 TDS Photography Workshop Season. In his 10th season leading these small three-day workshops, he'll visit Los Angeles, the Humboldt Redwoods, Lassen Volcanic National Park and the Eastern Sierra.
