In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Thomas Hoepker, Howard Greenberg, Fred Baldwin, Louis Foubare, Jessica Wynne, the Minolta Maxxum and DNG Converter.
- DDR Ansichten: Views of a Vanished Country presents Thomas Hoepker's vision of East Germany from the early years of the Berlin Wall to its fall.
- In A History of Photography as Seen Through the Eyes of Howard Greenberg, Miss Rosen reviews a recently-opened exhibit of the Greenberg Collection in Boston.
- In Dear Mr Picasso, Fred Baldwin talks about his life-changing encounter with the artist and the new photo book he's published about it.
- Louis Foubare introduces The Alabama Hills What You May Not Know (in California).
- For Do Not Erase, Jessica Wynne spent a year to document mathematician's chalkboards. Andrew Lasane tells her story.
- Derrick Story discovered The Minolta Maxxum Was the Original Sony when prepping a 700si for his film camera business and simultaneously testing the A7R IV. "Hat's off to Minolta. They really started something big," he writes.
- It's worth remembering (we recently forgot) that Adobe's DNG Converter receives unannounced updates to support new cameras. We're going to look after every Camera Raw update from now on.
More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
