In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Morgan Hornsby, Bill Cunningham, viewfinder follies, shutter sounds and upcoming Davis workshops.
- In The Poetry of Prison, Mhari Shaw talks to photojournalist Morgan Hornsby about her project illustrating the poetry of incarcerated women through Poetic Justice, which conducts writing workshops in prisons. The illustrations, in many cases, were the first family photos the women had made.
- This "trailer" for The Times of Bill Cunningham seems more like a Reader's Digest version of the documentary which will be released in February:
- Who Ever Said the Finder Had to Be on Top? Derrick Story asks. Because, you know, he's wrangled one onto a cold shoe that fit in the tripod socket of his Fujifilm XF10, adding an optical viewfinder where none had before been possible.
- Zach Sutton presents The Shutter Sounds of Our Most Popular Cameras. Listening to our Nikon D200's shutter was one of our secret vices until we just now revealed it. Ryan Hill did the same thing in July for even more cameras. (We still prefer the D200 enormously; it's battery is charging as we type.)
- Harold Davis has listed his Upcoming 2020-2021 Workshops & Events, noting the Paris early-bird discount expires Dec. 31.
More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
