DNP has announced its Wireless Connect Module that creates an 802.11 b/g/n WiFi hotspot for Android, iOS, macOS and Windows devices to print to DNP's dye sub printers. No special printing app is required if an app has a print option.

"We are thrilled to bring additional wireless printing capabilities to our photo printers and to our customers," said Shinichi Yamashita, DNP president. "The functions of the Wireless Connect Module are designed for all of our customers, from professional photographers working in their studios to photo booth operators who are always on the road. With the new Wireless Connect Module, customers will be able to expand their services for their clients and increase revenue with the touch of a button."

The company's earlier wireless option was the WPS Pro remains available but does require the WPS Print app to print from phones and tablets.

Photographers at an event can set up and configure the device through an admin page accessed via a Web browser. Partygoers can select print sizes and number of copies before sending photos to multiple printers.

The WCM include two USB ports to connect up to two printers.

The Quick Start Guide shows the small device with a power adapter plugged in and one USB printer cable attached.

It notes, "The WCM supports the Internet Printing Protocol, which allows it to work with Apple AirPrint and with the latest Android devices (running Android 9 or later). For Android 8.1 or earlier, you need to use a 3rd party printing app such as Let's Print Droid or Mopria Print."

To print from macOS or Windows, the standard DNP printer drivers for each particular model can be used.
