In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Vermont, Spain, Brooklyn, China, Jeff Leimbach, Photobooth Supply and five Shutterbug sweepstakes.

  • The New York Times has "launched a new series -- The World Through a Lens -- in which photojournalists help transport you, virtually, to some of our planet's most beautiful and intriguing places." This week's installment features Caleb Kenna's drone photographs from Vermont.
  • Ramón Masat chronicled 1950s Spain in black and white. A new exhibition at PhotoEspaña tells the story of life under Franco's dictatorship and afterwards.
  • Heidi Volpe talks to Anthony Geathers about his protest images from Brooklyn and his Instagram Embed project. "A lot of my time in the Marines, especially in combat, has prepared me to deal with madness and chaos very calmly," he says.
  • In Flowing Waters Never Return to the Source: Visions of the Chinese River, Marigold Warner talks to co-curator Victoria Jonathan about a new exhibition set within ancient ruins in Normandy that paints a portrait of a transitioning China through 13 photographers and 80 works that explore the river.
  • Jeff Leimbach tells a nice story about how he became an Architectural Photographer. One good turns deserves another.
  • Founded by Brandon Wong and Katrina Santos, Photobooth Supply builds lightweight, compact, and durable photo booths starting at $149. Its Salsa cloud-based booth sets up in 60 seconds without tools. And the company integrates AirPrint printers and DNP dye-subs as trouble-free print solutions.
  • The first of five Shutterbug Summertime Sweepstakes has just launched. Each one will have five winners. Prizes for this one include one Sigma 16mm f1.4 Contemporary Lens and four $50 Amazon gift cards.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
