In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Aegean quake, Jona Frank, Society6 and your photographer Halloween costume.
- The Guardian has collected a few images of the devastating Aegean Earthquake, putting a human face on the physical damage.
- In Jona Frank: Between Reality and Fantasy, Arthur Lubow takes a look at Frank's attempt to recreate her childhood in photos featuring actors, including Laura Dern as her mother. The series is now a book Cherry Hill: A Childhood Reimagined -- with a happy ending. Frank escapes the world that confined her mother because "the young Jona was a dreamer," he writes.
- In Put Your Photos on Something, Kevin Raber finds places other than walls to hang his art using Society6, which can print your images on bedspreads, shower curtains, throws, mugs, phone cases, hoodies and more. And not just for yourself but as merchandise others can buy.
- Photofocus wants to know Which Photographer Would You Dress Up as for Halloween? Write in candidates accepted.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
